Hi, I am Billa. I was born in Germany and still live there, in a small village in the middle of nowhere. And there you find my ivory tower, where I withdraw to when creating, leaving the loud demanding world behind me.

I have always been dreaming of creating beauty. I remember adoring my coloring books as a little girl and feeling delight in filling in shapes with red and green and blue. I enjoyed building fantasy houses with toy blocks and kneading and shaping clay … Very early I tried out painting and then moved to creating collages with real photos …

And then there came Photoshop opening to me the world of digital art. After taking the first steps, I was overwhelmed by the feeling to finally have found my niche. Endless possibilities to create magic. I learned by doing, going through times of failure and despair. But I never gave up.

In 2015, I joined the "Photoshop Artistry" course by Sebastian Michaels and his more advanced programme “AWAKE” that provided not only with much more advanced skills, but with critique and encouragement too. I learned to trust my feelings and visions, to push beyond the boundaries that I allowed to restrict me for years and years.

And now, when I go through the world, my senses wide open, I can find inspiration everywhere … It might be a face, a gesture, a sentence in a book, a fragrance, or the mood in a certain situation of my everyday life …

It might sound strange, but it can as well be the dark side of life which inspires me … It challenges me to create kind of a counterweight. There have been some tough periods in my life, and creating beauty has enabled my soul to find a way back to the lightness of being.

My breast cancer some years ago made me feel the vulnerability of my femininity, of my outer appearance. Not only did I lose my hair. But perhaps where outward beauty cannot be preserved forever, femininity can be. And this is what I celebrate in my artwork.

I’m married to the best husband I can think of, always prepared to overtake cooking when I’m absorbed in art. I am a mother of two adult children and a cat lover… in fact I live with three boy cats. And they make me agree to Leonardo da Vinci who said “The smallest feline is a masterpiece.”

And here the circle closes… we are back to my art, to be seen here …
